Why I’ve decided to tell my story
Having beaten cancer twice in the last two years, my goal is to get back running and to discover how far I can go. My aim is to see if I can go back to running events, to running marathons, breaking my own records, and eventually to attempt to achieve my original goal of breaking the illustrious sub 3 hour marathon.
It took me a while to decide whether or not to tell my story. A number of close friends suggested it would be a story worth telling, inspiring, perhaps motivational for others, so I decided I would give it a go.
For me, I thought that if I can help to positively motivate or influence even a single person from writing this blog then it would be worthwhile. I am hoping to find the process cathartic, but really I want people to know that no matter how tough things get, you should never give up on your goals or your dreams. Not giving up on my goals as a runner is a huge part of what has helped motivate me to get through this extremely difficult and testing time, and to keep on going.
